“Get” es una de esas palabras muy comunes con muchísimos significados que les causa dificultades para muchos estudiantes. Espero que este artículo te ayude.

En mi diccionario, “Webster’s New World Dictionary”, hay más de 22 significados de “get” cuando la palabra aparece sola. Cuando “get” aparece en combinación con otras palabras como preposiciones, hay por lo menos 40 más significados. “Get” es un verbo y en el uso más común quiere decir conseguir, obtener, o adquirir. Por ejemplo, “I have to get a chair for my grandfather.” (Tengo que conseguir una silla para mi abuelo.), “Where did you get that book?” (¿Dónde conseguiste ese libro?)

El problema es cuando la palabra tiene uno de los otros significados, especialmente cuando hay una preposición añadido. He proveído algunas de las formas aquí con unos ejercicios, pero hay mucho más y debes consultar un buen diccionario.
